LA River Master Plan
Created by OLIN, Geosyntec, and Gehry Partners, the LA River Master Plan is an ambitious and thorough look at the future of the LA River. For this historic project, a reimagining of an epic piece of infrastructure, the LA River, we created an animation to summarize and encapsulate the 500-page master plan in a few short minutes. We did this through the use of bold flat colors and branding consistent with the master plan. Our process incorporated both 3D and 2D animation that we aimed to pull together seamlessly.

Design
We reinterpreted the visual design of the masterplan graphics, starting with colorful storyboards and ending with integrated animation, music, and voiceover.
Storyboards and concept art were created from a script. We took great care in crafting a unique visual style using both 2D and 3D elements.
Production
We built regional-scale, illustrative models, a rigged character, illustrative plants, landscape sections and scenes, and scenes of different goals and common elements from the plan.
